Alita: Battle Angel - Review Thread Man does this movie do a 180 turn over from the horrible first trailer. This movie is absolutely gorgeous to look at. The effects are some of the best I've seen in a very long time. The Action scenes are breath-taking I got a chance to see this in IMAX 3D and do yourself a favor go see it in IMAX since a lot of the action is filmed in 3-D IMAX and it's not a gimmick in anyway this a real IMAX 3D film (Depending if you liked Avatar in 3D, I'm not sure what else to compare it to. IF you thought the visuals stood out in IMAX this is a movie for you.) I was truly worried this movie would be another "Ghost in the Shell" adaption. This was not the case the world and the characters feel alive, you really care for Alita and you come to really care for the doctor Dyson. That doesn't mean this movie doesn't have problems. The narrative has a bit of a rush issue where we get more focused on the action set pieces than what this world and characters are doing and where they are going. Also the LOVE STORY DOES NOT WORK... AT ALL! But even with these issues you can tell Rodrigez and Cameron worked there asses off making a good anime live action movie. This movie easily blew up expectations away. It's fun a lot of the times, and this movie will easily be re-watchable many times over. P.S. don't ask me to compare it to the manga or the anime. I never read or watched em. I went in blind cuz the trailers looked cool. 9/10

Also you cannot tell me this is a Robert Rodriquez film, this movie is too good for a Rodriquez film. I'll give him another chance to see if this wasn't a fluke lol.
I feel James Cameron was in control of this film, even though he didn't direct it personally.

I mean the action was cool. But holy shit is this movie filled with awful dialogue and scenes that are genuinely so bad they are good. It was overall not something I would suggest someone to see alone.
Have fun with it and you'll be in for a nice time. I'll see the sequel, they must have had some expository dialogue planning a sequel almost every other scene.
The ya angled love story is so bad but those scenes make up the bulk of the eye roll inducing lines.
I'll give I a hard meh and a 6/10 but it's a decent guilty pleasure flick.

I might see this at the dollar theater. Too many other movies fighting for my attention and I think I'll go see How to Train Your Dragon instead.

I will say mcteague and his dogs were the best part of the movie. If we get a sequel we need them to team up with alita constantly.

Fun movie, but it's very forgettable. I saw it in 3D, and it added nothing to the experience. It's worth checking out in 2D if you're in the mood to go to the movies.

When it started, I really thought I was gonna be into it. But it has some awful world-building and the main character is really inconsistent. And seriously, when she tried recruiting those bounty hunters to "join her against" whoever... anyways, really choppy script.
