Am I the only one who thinks it makes no sense that Garfield hates Mondays? He's a cat, he doesn't have a job and has no reason to mourn the end of the weekend. If anything the days of the week should be a mostly meaningless construct to him.

That would be a good explanation, but I think Jon works from home.

Well, then. I agree with your original point now.

The in-universe reason seems to be that Mondays are some sort of weekly Friday the 13th event that targets Garfield directly. For him it delves deeper than "Mondays. Am I right?"

Well, then. I agree with your original point now. Jon is a cartoonist, in other words, he’s Jim Davis. So presumably, on Monday, he’s back to focusing on next Sunday’s comic strip and goes back to ignoring Garfield. So you’re probably half-right.

But a cartoonist is presumably going to be most stressed later in the week when the Sunday strip is approaching its deadline. Mondays would presumably be his slacker procrastination day and thus the weekday he would be best positioned to make lasagna for his cat.

There’s also daily comics he has to work on, but Sunday’s would be more time-consuming since it’s in color and has more panels. Plus, if it’s a national strip, the deadline would be a lot sooner due to shipping. These Garfield comics go back to the 70’s before Internet. I’m sure the publisher was sending his strips by mail to each newspaper, unless there’s some high-quality fax I’m unaware of.

Was anyone else's mind blown when they discovered Nermal was male as a child?

I mean if we're being 100% real, every single strip is more than likely made weeks in advance, but either way I doubt Monday would be any busier than any other day for a syndicated cartoonist.

That wasn’t thebtskink’s point though. He’s saying that Jon has the weekend to devote to Garfield and Monday goes back to work mode.

I'm just saying, if you're going to get a gig as a freelancer who can make their own hours there's no reason why m-f should be relevant to you, much as it shouldn't be relevant to a feline.

Was anyone else's mind blown when they discovered Nermal was male as a child? You have NO idea. Gender confusion at age five is horrifying.

Was anyone else's mind blown when they discovered Nermal was male as a child? Main thing blowing my mind in that clip is that they got away with ripping off an ancient Jack Benny joke.

As much as I appreciate the Phoenix Gaming forums, they don't seem to be getting a lot of traffic. Any chance of bringing some gaming boards back to this neighborhood?

Kermit the Frog wants to know why there are so many songs about rainbows... but, like, are there really that many songs about rainbows and what's on the other side? There really aren't, there's "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and that's about it especially pre-1979. Kermit was full of shit.

That one's not about "what's on the other side" though, it's just using rainbows as a metaphor to compare her significant other to. Same for The Rolling Stones' "She's a Rainbow" and Elvis' "Pocketful of Rainbows." Whole other ballgame.
