The author saying there isnt enough variation in star wars is missing the point. Don't make the universe smaller make it bigger and it's fine. Even more stories than marvel really but they decided to retcon all things not the movies and handcuffed themselves into just focusing more and more on these few characters that arguably we knew quite well already. And last Jedi still fucking blows from a story telling standpoint. IanTheCool |

He's dead wrong. It's not that people are sick of Star Wars.
It's that not one fucking person asked for Han Solo movie, especially one without Harrison Ford in the lead.
I have no idea who works for LucasFilm but somebody should have stood up and said, that movie would bomb in a heartbeat.

Maybe if Han hadn't been killed off and the movie went back and forth from the past to present day they may have had something interesting on their hands, as it was, him dying kind of put a pin in the character. To then bring him back in a prequel-sequel was a mistake - unless it was something really, really special. I mean I enjoyed the movie but the character deserved much better.

Really I think they should have started with the Obi-Wan spin off. Ewan McGregor is 100% on board (if they decided to use him), a lot of people question what he did between 3 and 4, and we haven’t seen that character in quite some time so it would appear fresh.
Sadly it looks like this movie probably won’t happen. Which sucks, I was really hoping to see McGregor back as middle aged Obi-Wan.

Agreed, in actuality, nobody wanted to ruin Han Solo as a character and didn’t want to see how he grew up. Plus, this movie had so many problems from the start.

Considering it's a trio of dates every other year, I'm assuming it's the new trilogy from D. B. Weiss and David Benioff, which they'll probably be working on until then.
