I wasn’t gonna “review” this movie cause, surprisingly, there’s not much to say about it. But since I’m sitting down, eating Taco Bull that I bought at 2am because I live life dangerously, I figured I’d waste my time giving my two cents on the R-rated Muppet movie that everyone is gonna ignore. The movie isn’t as vulgar as you’d expect. All those scenes were made just to sell the movie. It’s really just a noir parody about some P.I. Muppet that’s investigating the murders of a TV show cast. If you guys aren’t gonna be ridiculous like FShuttari I’ll give you the gist of it. So the Muppet is named Phil Phillips. He’s an ex-cop who left the force after accidentally shooting and killing a civilian. He’s hired by a slutty Muppet, the one you see having sex with him in the trailers, and throughout his investigation, he ends up witnessing each murder. The cops suspect he’s the one doing the killings cause... what a fucking coincidence... but his ex-partner (Melissa McCarthy) believes his innocence and helps him out. They discover the slutty Muppet is the daughter of the guy he accidentally killed. That’s a lot of plot for a really stupid movie. I’m okay with that but when you combine it with explicit humor it doesn’t gel. I didn’t dislike the movie or was bored by it. It’s entertaining and interesting. If it’s on Netflix go ahead and watch it. But it’s not the next Sausage Party and Roger Rabbit. Speaking of Roger Rabbit, what makes the noir and cartoon humor gel is the context. The human characters react to the absurdity of the cartoon characters. Here it’s perfectly normal to have X-rated Muppets roaming around. You gotta ground the silliness to offset it with the noir.

So happy this movie is getting shit on. Looks awful, uninspired, and a pathetically derivative version of Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
After the awful looking author forgery movie comes out later this year, Melissa McCarthy will have made three bombs (Life of the Party being the other) in one calendar year! How many more flops does she get before Hollywood stops trying to push her on audiences?
