Denzel Washington is a superhero, and it was wonderful to see something of an old school action film. It also becomes the best Jason Voorhees movie since JASON LIVES in its last 20 minutes, and I loved every second of it. In between Denzel dealing out justice to wrongdoers, he's also a community man, from taking in a would-be gangbanger, to helping a woman in his apartment complex after her garden is destroyed. I also appreciated the fact that the villain wasn't some morally complex character to sympathize with, and just a bunch of tools who need their world messed up.
I thought the first one was fun, and sure, this might be on "equal footing" with it's predecessor. But I may have enjoyed this just a bit more. One of summer's best films.

Movie is whatever, but I did enjoy the final action scene that takes place in the middle of a hurricane.

Now this I gotta see. I've seen the first in snippets on tbs or something. I get the gist.
Man on fires been playing recently got me fired up for some badass Denzel.

This was .... okay. I really liked the first installment, kind of liked this, but felt like the action was much more sparse, and the human element nowhere near the lever of the first. Still, not bad, just ok.

Yeah, I'm a pretty big fan of the first one. Gets better for me every time I watch it. And while I did like this sequel...it WAS missing that little extra touch that made the first one better than it had any right to be. This is nothing we haven't seen before, but it's at least executed with some class and style.

I watched some mothafuckas get Equalized today. There was some decent Equalizin' but it's not Equalized to the first.
I'd say there's only so many movies you can make with a main character who is always one step ahead and never makes a wrong move. It was like watching the first ten minutes of a Batman movie where Batman takes out a group of thugs that have no chance against him...except it's two hours long and the entire movie. I had hopes that since the badguys were trained at Equalizer school they'd be a challenge for Denzel, but alas. If they make a third one they really need an antagonist that's equal to the Equalizer.

You can rewatch virtuosity.
