Hereditary with kids? Was she trying to scar them for life?

Well, then, I guess you should have gone to an Alamo Drafthouse.

I went last night to watch Ant-Man and the Wasp. It started at 9:30 and I had just got out of work. I got my seat, I settled in, I'm relaxed and ready to finally see the movie before it's probably out of theaters. That's when a dumbass couple walks in with their two year old and an infant carrier. At 9:30 at night. On a Thursday. They sat behind me. I told myself I'll give them the previews. I did, I gave them the previews. The two year old wouldn't stop talking, 'mommy, what's that?' 'Mommy food!' 'Shhh Shhhhhh!' 'Mommy I sit over there.' So I left. I got a refund. I guess I'll just wait for Redbox. What the fuck is wrong with these people? When I watched Hereditary there was a woman with three fucking kids all under the age of 5 or so. Also, when are theaters going to crack down and say 'no, you can't bring your infant in here.' Or better yet, charge them for a ticket. Then these dumbass horrible fucking parents will think twice before bringing a kid who has no business being there in the first place. They don't let people smoke in theaters, why? Because it bothers people. I'd almost rather sit by a smoker than some retarded asshole who brings their kids to a movie. Pissed, pissed pissed pissed. This is my "2017 at the theater" in a nutshell, hence why I've gone to the theater this year less often than perhaps any year since I was just a kid. I've only been maybe 10 times, usually by now I've gone at least 20-25 times. Audiences have just reached the point of being intolerable for me.

Local amc doesn't allow kids under 16 to see any r rated movie even with an adult after 6pm.
It's brilliant.
But there def was an infant at infinity war when I saw it. Was high enough and far enough away only heard the beast like once.

If it makes Doomsday feel better I saw Ant-Man again yesterday as a time killer before Rifftrax Live and I had no problems whatsoever.

I've only been maybe 10 times, usually by now I've gone at least 20-25 times. Audiences have just reached the point of being intolerable for me. I went on a huge rant about this last year. Problem is that theatres are upgrading to "luxury theatres" and it's a gimmick that's working and attracting annoying people back to the cinema. Theatres were supposed to be dead in 2014 when attendance was at its lowest since the 90's. But these fuckers reinvested and we're now suffering. Instead of going the Alamo Drafthouse and catering to movie fans they're still greedy for that mainstream dollar. Home entertainment is gets better every year. They may win battles but they're gonna lose the war. But this is what happens when you put conglomerates in charge.

I did feel a sense of pride when a guy brought his baby carrier into the theater one time and everybody booed him.

Since most theaters want to cater to as many people as possible, they want to remain appealing to stupid people. Smart people go to the Alamo Drafthouse.

Smart people go to the Alamo Drafthouse. There's literally 24 locations in the entire country - and most are in Texas. Those fuckers really need to expand their business.

There's one by me now... it's alright. People make it out to be this filmgoing mecca but, I don't know, it kind of just seemed like most other theaters but with food. If it were on the correct side of the metro I'd probably go again but they put it out by St. Paul, so no thank you.

My theater experiences have been pretty good this year. I did have some dude bros behind my last night at an IMAX showing of 2001: A Space Odyssey. To be fair, they were quiet during the movie, so that was good, but before I had to endure some pretty inane conversations. "What do you think Stanley Kubrick would like more, Avengers: Infinity War or Batman v. Superman? I think he'd like Batman v. Superman, as it has much better cinematography and symbolism".

Any conversation that involves the words "cinematography and symbolism" is better than 99% of inane conversations that dude bros are likely to have.

True, I still found it a little odd that right before watching 2001 the dude couldn't help but talk about Batman v. Superman. There was also a guy in the group who kept saying 2010 was better. Not sure if he was joking or not. Anyway, part of my point is that that innocuous encounter was one of the more memorable theater patrons I've had lately. The horror stories I hear here or from RLM really aren't reflected in my own experiences.

I would agree with the larger point, I'm constantly hearing these moviegoing horror stories and yet the worst I ever see in real life are old people whispering here and there and maybe a cell phone light being visible a few rows down. Not sure if it's my habit of going to matinees or what.

Yeah you're not wrong, but I also just wasn't really getting anything out of it. As I'm getting older, turned 30 this year, I just feel like I need to prioritize my life a little better. Forcing myself to write reviews that a) I'm not being paid to write and b) I'm not enjoying the actual writing of as much anymore, was an easy thing to eliminate.

Just put a couple of lines, thats what I do. Then we can comment on each toehr's etc., which is something I wish we did more of on there.
