The stuff at the Overlook at the least looks like it'll be a fun return.

The whole story is bonkers. Shining (the book) is more supernatural horror whereas the movie is more psychological horror. That's why Stephen King always hated the movie. Kubrick is the only director to take a Stephen King novel and completely re-write it. So this movie has the difficult task of taking Stephen King's nonsense and placing it in Kubrick's world.

And that's why I preferred the movie to the book. Supposedly, though, this movie is a happy medium of Kubrick and King.

Okay, I finished the book last week and there's one thing about the plot that concerns me if Flanagan stays faithful to the book.

The True Knot is fucking incompetent in the book once they start going after Abra. They're supposed to be the villains of the story, but the way they're so quickly and easily taken out took away any sense of danger for Abra and Dan. I love that they cast Rebecca Furguson as Rose The Hat -- spot on -- but if she and her gang are taken out the same way they are in the book, that's gonna be silly.
