I'm not convinced this will be a good movie, but just seeing how less busy the Transformer design is and how less choppy the editing looks really drives home just how much this franchise needed Michael Bay to step away.

Bloody Hell! Soundwave, Ravage, Optimus Prime, and they all look like they're supposed to! Am I actually going to have to see this thing?

I like the fact that Bumblebee isn't twenty feet tall, and is a Beetle the way he's supposed to be. While the G1 look of the Transformers on Cybertron is what I've always wanted, I strongly suspect that those scenes are no more than two or three minutes of the entire movie.

It’s the director of Kubo.

I'll wait for the reviews. "Kubo and the 2 strings" is a movie ive seen over multiple times.
Let's see what happens with this film, I'm hoping it's decent or a fun flick. No way this will be good as Kubo

For me it's not so much that the designs are G1 inspired, it's more to do with them being far more simple. They're identifiable. They don't look like interchangable chaotic messes of pistons. Now if only these bots have personality and not one note character tropes, this will be easily be the one Transformers movie that will be worth watching.

While G1 Transformers is what I grew up on, I would have been perfectly happy if the designs of the movie versions had been clearly identifiable and not looking like a vaguely humanoid shaped jumble of parts from a junkyard. This version of Bumblebee is a perfect example. It's robot form doesn't look much of anything like the G1 version, but the style is along the same lines. It's clearly a robot that used to be a yellow Beetle.

This is already the best live-action Transformers movie, based on the aesthetics alone.

This is already the best live-action Transformers movie, based on the aesthetics alone. Sad, but true. Bay set the bar mighty low. The first film is the only true good one, and I'll never forget jumping out of my chair and shouting and clapping with my theatre when Peter Cullen said "My name is Optimus Prime." The last five minutes of the second one are the only things worth watching in that. It's also the only film I held up both middle fingers during the time Optimus died and until he came back. The people I was with were very entertained by that. The third picture is second best of this franchise, but it's uneven. That final battle in Chicago though is some of Bay's best work. These last two have been absolutely atrocious.
