If they don't bring back Ritchie it will be a mistake.

As I hear it RDJ and Jude Law haven't signed on to this... so... yeah. If they don't bring all 3 back what the hell is even the point?
Unless we replace em with Cumberbatch and Freeman and see if they notice a difference :0

Yeah, we already have a popular BBC Sherlock show that' essentially a collection of Sherlock movies. A Guy Richie movie would feel like a big step backwards.
Although you could argue that the modern renditions of Sherlock Holmes are good indicators of what Americans want to see vs. what Brits want to see.

If the new Shelock Holmes movies were really what Americans wanted to see then Holmes would have Iron Man armor and the movie would have a lot more titties.

I wonder if Guy Ritchie will direct or not. He's currently busy with Aladdin, and now didn't they just announce he's gonna do another gangster movie after that?

Warner Bros. Pictures set a released date of December 25, 2020 for Sherlock Holmes 3 earlier this year, but we haven’t heard much about the third installment since. Jude Law, who played Dr. John Watson in the first two films opposite Robert Downey Jr.’s Sherlock Holmes, has now hinted to Entertainment Weekly what we can expect when the next film opens.
“We hope to propel the story forward,” Law said. “As always, the essence of the story is their codependency. We’re going to examine — since it’s been several years since we’ve seen them — we’re going to play up the fact that they haven’t seen each other for a long time either.”
The first film was released in 2009 and earned $524 million worldwide, while Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows followed in 2011 and grossed $545 million globally.
The studio has not officially announced that Guy Ritchie, who directed the first two films, will be back in the director’s chair. He is currently working on Disney’s live-action Aladdin movie, which opens on May 24, 2019. Chris Brancato wrote the script for Sherlock Holmes 3.
Susan Downey, Joel Silver and Lionel Wigram are producing the new film.
A week ago, Downey Jr. teased his return as Sherlock Holmes in a tweet:www.vitalthrills.com/2018/08/26/jude-law-sherlock-holmes-3/

Guy Ritchie should be involved in SOME capacity, at least. Hands-on producer, perhaps, if he can't direct?

That's a mistake. But maybe Ritchie didn't wanna do it?

That's a mistake. But maybe Ritchie didn't wanna do it? I’m sure he’s busy on Aladdin 2: The Return of Jafar.

Ritchie's doing another original gangster film next.
Yeah, so...on the one hand, I'm bummed cause his style was such a big part of what made the first two so good. On the other...they got Dexter Fletcher to replace him, and the dude's made two really entertaining movies so far. It's a trade-off I can live with.
