After about a week and a half of recuperation and constantly saying things like "Man, I hate Star Wars" or "Man, I hate Rifftrax," MST3K, Rifftrax, and Beyond is back with another swing at a classic MST episode, Colossus and the Headhunters! I assure everyone that I'm still alive. Just barely. Adding to the work load, I've also added reviews of the Play MSTie for Me Triple Decker and rounded it out with a DVD retrospective of Volume XXXVIII, because the obvious conclusion was I needed MORE shit to type after being gone for so long. |

It's definitely a must see for awful cinema lovers. It's such an endearingly odd and inept film.
I ensure you the MST version is a hoot. If you and your friend want an enhanced viewing experience of the film it would probably be worth a look.

The riffers speculate the film was a fulfillment of the director's weird fetish, which might actually be true. I've read some speculation that Vic Savage may have been (subliminally?) a vorarephile and used The Creeping Terror to enact a repressed sexual desire to see women eaten alive. If half of what we know about Savage's controlling nature over women is true (and I don't doubt that it is), then it's not really all that surprising that he would have fantasies about the consumption of them.
It really explains a lot about the film if it's true.

Well, I was told to laugh at the freak, so that's exactly what I'm doing. COME LAUGH AT THE FREAK, EVERYONE! Today's episode is The Amazing Colossal Man, where there are plenty of laughs regardless of freaks anyway! I'm actually shaking things up from here on out. Previously I was prioritizing MST over the others and alternating between Rifftrax and other riffing groups. I realized that this was a bit unfair to Rifftrax seeing how they're in the title of my blog (and constantly get my highest hitcounts) so I'm doing a new trinity rotation. First an MST episode, followed by a Rifftrax, then an alternating "Beyond" riff. Hopefully that will even things out. |
