Confederate thing < New Star Wars Trilogy
I'm under the impression most people are not interested in a new Trilogy from Rain Johnson.

This is a separate set of films. So I'm guessing Disney is doing a peace offering to Star Wars fans who hated, "The Last Jedi" and they started a petition to get Rain Johnson fired from the other trilogy. I'm guessing they are hoping, that the GoT show runners could make these fans excited for another trilogy.

The Rian Johnson Trilogy is gonna take its place. The Benioff & Weiss films are likely going to replace the "origin" movies. Nothing has been announced beyond their top-secret project set for release in 2020.

This is a separate set of films. He's still making the first movie of a trilogy until Disney say he can make the rest or pass them to someone else. I'm all for them but his name might need some polishing with some fans who don't like him anymore.

They are out.
Apparently to focus on their Netflix commitments. Which is obviously bullshit.
They'll probably announce they're cancelling their Netflix commitments next to focus on their CW commitments.

Probably for the better. That press junket was going to be horrible for them. I just wish they didn’t shit all over GoT first.

“It’s like if you take a job as a ‘Star Wars’ director or creator you’re automatically thrown in the Sarlacc Pit and your chances of getting out and making that film are so unlikely you have to almost be a Jedi master,” says Jeff Bock, a box office analyst with Exhibitor Relations.
Oh shut up.

Doomsday IanTheCoolwww.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/david-benioff-dan-weiss-star-wars-movie-the-first-jedi-1235784437/On the Star Wars front, the duo confirm media reports from 2019 that they were looking at the early days of the Jedi, but added some details. “We wanted to do The First Jedi,” Benioff says. “Basically, how the Jedi Order came to be, why it came to be, the first lightsaber …” “And we were annoyed as hell when [Rian Johnson, the duo’s longtime friend and 3 Body Problem producer] called his movie The Last Jedi,” Weiss says dryly. “He completely destroyed the obvious title for what we were working on.” Asked what went wrong, Benioff says, “[Lucasfilm] ended up not wanting to do a First Jedi story. We had a very specific story idea in mind, and ultimately they decided they didn’t want to do that. And we totally get it. It’s their company and their IP, but we weren’t the droids they were looking for.” The duo were far from the only ones that had their Star Wars movie taken away. Lucasfilm also decided against making Star Wars projects from top creatives like Kevin Feige, Patty Jenkins and Damon Lindelof. Yet Benioff and Weiss’ overall concept still might happen — last year, Lucasfilm announced a movie titled Dawn of the Jedi from Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny director James Mangold.

If I never watched another Star Wars entry for the rest of my life I would be totally fine. I'm feeling this too, and I am a pretty big Star Wars nerd. When Disney got the franchise, I was very excited by the prospect of a new trilogy, but outside of that I was very worried about them milking the franchise.
Well, the udder seems to be getting pretty sore. Star Wars isn't special anymore. They let some guy who made a bunch of children's cartoons about the series pretend like they're real and started making a bunch of tv shows for his cartoons to be in. They either give us deviations so far from the tone and feel of Star Wars, or they just give us the same old pablum with all these shows. There's no winning. They almost made Mando work, but Filoni's ridiculousness seeped into that too. I know that they paid 4 billion dollars, so of course they're gonna do as much as they can with it, but it really should have been three movies, and then maybe after 10 years they think about more. That's how Star Wars retains its power.

100%. One of Star Wars' biggest weapons was going away for a while. Now it's no different than any other bloated, watered down show.
