Robocop 2 is an awful sequel. It takes everything you admired about the original and takes a dump on it. But judging the movie on its own merits, it ain’t bad. The action’s fun. The jokes land. It isn’t Empire Strikes Back but it sure beats Jedi.

I have mixed feelings about Robocop 2. The film has some decent ideas and the satirical tone is still intact (albeit not executed as flawlessly as the OG), but the film is also a mess with some poorly developed concepts, a wack structure, underwhelming action, and dramatically less interesting villains. It's not necessarily the disaster I expected but I do think it's pretty bad.

We'll have to summon Pbar from the outer rim to comment if we're talking Robocop 2. The problem with this movie is that it's so unenjoyable. There are some good ideas but there isn't so much action as there is brutal violence. There are some things I liked about it but I waver on it. |
