Christ. While visually, story-wise, and thematically it might be fantastic, I can't help but wonder what the already techno-jargon dialogue would sound like with his loquaciousness.

Colour me curious. I'm not sure I like the idea of this being a Tarantino film first and Star Trek second, but the dude seems to have a passion for his idea so that's enticing. It's a bit weird that he isn't writing the film, but I assume he'll at least take a pass at the script.

I don't really get why he would want to do this. Kind of hoping they just take his idea, have him be a really hands-on producer and get other people to write and direct while he focuses on his original projects. Frankly, I'd be perfectly happy to just have Justin Lin/J.J. Abrams keep on going with the series they've established.

What series did he get a guest on? He's definitely always professed to be a fan

Love this.
Want more auteurs to take on original projects. Like a Wes Anderson alien movie. Or an aronofsky wolverine(...). Maybe a del toro predator.
It's like why people are remaking cartoons from their childhood because those kids have better ideas since they bought the action figures and created their own universes in their minds.
Cool shit I'm pumped.

I fall somewhere between PG Cooper and Dracula on this. On the one hand, I think the prospect of Tarantino directing a Star Trek film, and making it R-rated, is intriguing as hell and definitely gets me pretty excited to see what it'd look like. On the other...IF Tarantino is serious with his "ten movies, then I'm done" claim, I'm honestly disappointed that he'd want to make his last movie a franchise film instead of one more that's totally his creation. Like Coop, I have to imagine he'll take a pass at the script.

Let me guess. Christopher Waltz or Samuel L. Jackson as the villain.

I'd rather it not be his last, but it's his career and he can end it however he likes.

Yes Quentin has always seemed like someone who wants to just be left alone and shirks the spotlight.
Believe hes retired when he's dead.

Believe hes retired when he's dead. He wants to write books and theatre and television. Truthfully, after Hateful Eight was steamrolled by Force Awakens, there’s probably no reason for Tarantino to continue working in cinema.
