At this point my interest in Star Wars goes only so far as Episodes 8 and 9. Anything other than that I can do without. I think it's because Disney has pretty much said that they're coming out with Star Wars movies every year until the end of days, that just doesn't seem like anything I'm interested in investing in.

I probably should feel the same way... but they put out at least two or three MCU movies every year and I keep going to them without fail so it's hard to really get angry about it.

And at least they’re expanding beyond the core characters.

It saddens me that I just can't bring myself to care much about the future of Star Wars anymore. The ongoing saga is little more than a curiosity these days. It's hard to get worked up about something that comes out every year. There's something to be said for building anticipation.

If Spielberg were in charge, I doubt I'd be any more interested. Star Wars isn't special anymore. It's being used by Disney as just another IP to be squeezed for cash.

He's the most talented filmmaker to be involved with the franchise ever, and we now that he's got the talent and world building ability to make this work. We shouldn't be surprised if what he puts out is better than anything we're gonna get from Episodes VII-IX.

I'm sure it is, and though they've given him some creative freedom I'm sure, he's still working within particular restraints that come with picking up the story of Luke Skywalker. Give him his own galaxy, his own characters and storylines, and I think Disney lets him do his thing and isn't so over his shoulder. I think it's a great move all around.

The Last Jedi has been the only smooth production for any of these Disney/Star Wars movies. I think they're getting tired of firing directors and getting on board the Johnson train.

Pretty much pumped for this news. Star Wars is too big to be cooped in the Skywalker saga.

One of my friends tells a story of him and his buddies at a party in high school in 1991 when this song came on after they had dropped acid. His buddy was hitting the wall with a broomstick every time it said WHOOMP. Absolutely destroyed some poor guys house. I cannot now hear this song and not smile ear to ear.
