The X-Men Universe should be separate, you can't have some people with mutant abilities with the Government after them. Then also have Super-heroes with no mutant abilities running around.
Also both Universes at this point are very different from one another. It would be a mess.

That's exactly what they do in the comics. Why wouldn't in work in a film? One of the biggest gripes behind the Spidey situation is the fact that Wolverine can't team up with the Avengers.

Fox has done such a wonderful job with X-Men Universe, No thanks. Let's keep building that Universe Separately.

You know Wolverine was an Avenger right? And Beast. And I think Storm is one now. Never mind they had to finnelge in Quicksilver and Scarlette Witch into Age of Ultron. Why wouldn't it work? Wolverine was brought onto the team at a point when the Avengers title was in desperate need of some new blood. The Avengers of the MCU are brand new, and there are still plenty more traditional members of the team who have yet to be introduced. Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch were not finagled onto the team for Age of Ultron. They are traditional members of The Avengers. Their time as members of The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants was very brief. They first appeared as part of The Brotherhood in 1964, and joined The Avengers in 1965.

I know they are part of the Avengers and the Brotherhood. Thats my point. I'm talking about the hoops Marvel had to jump through to get around Fox's ownership of the property. I read somewhere they can't even refer to him as Quicksilver or even as mutants.
And I'm not asking when. I'm asking why it wouldn't work.

I read somewhere they can't even refer to him as Quicksilver or even as mutants. And I'm not asking when. I'm asking why it wouldn't work. Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch have been mentioned by name numerous times by Marvel Studios in relation to Age of Ultron, so the names are clear. It is true that they will not be mutants. As for why Wolverine won't work as an Avenger, there's a few reasons. Wolverine has always been the star of every movie he's been in. The Avengers is all about teamwork, and Wolverine has never been able to do that successfully. He constantly runs off on his own to deal with a personal issue. To suddenly alter the dynamic the audience is accustomed to seeing Wolverine in from the lead hero to just one of many equal members of an ensemble cast wouldn't work for the average moviegoer. Then there's casting. Hugh Jackman is done with the role once X-Men: Apocalypse and Wolverine 3 are complete. It's going to be hard enough on the fans to accept a new actor in the role once Hugh is gone, but for the new guy to also suddenly pop-up alongside an already familiar team of Avengers would be even worse. The new Wolverine needs to be introduced with all the other new actors playing the X-Men.

The creative control part is where the deal was dumb anyways. Let Feige in and join Spider-Man with the MCU, and allow them creative control. I would think that would be the whole point. To make better Spider-Man movies. Instead, it seems like Sony was only interested in banking on Spider-Man joining the universe to gain more positive exposure, and hopefully make more money from their stand-alone films as a result.

It's not like Sony has the best writers scripting Spiderman, anyway.

Looking at the numbers, I don't know how much more money Marvel Studios would be able to add to the Spider-Man movie franchise for Sony. Amazing Spider-Man 2 made profits comparable to those of the average Marvel Studios film. Marvel Studios makes more money because they also get the profits from the huge number of merchandising deals they have in place to sell toys, t-shirts and lunchboxes. Sony was so desperate for cash back in 2011 that they sold the merchandising rights to Spider-Man back to Marvel, so they don't get a dime from any Spider-Man toys sold in the wake of any Spider-Man movies anymore.
Don't get me wrong. I'd prefer for a deal allowing Spider-Man to move to the MCU to be made, and it could very well happen. With the two companies having to split the profits though, the benefits of such a deal in the eyes of Sony Pictures are kinda limited. Either way, nothing is going to happen until the "Spidey Summit" in January.

I don't think the general audience is really aware of the difference between the MCU and a non-MCU Marvel movie, so to that point I don't think Marvel taking back Spider-Man would do a whole lot unless he's included in the Avengers 2 and they launch a new trilogy of films off of whoever they cast for that cameo appearance. If Marvel can create the distinction between Maguire/Garfield and whoever they end up casting (if this happens), then I could see it maybe being successful because of the Avengers tie-in.
If they don't have that, then I don't think they have anything on what Sony was doing with the character. I'm sure Marvel would do a better job, but without that breath of fresh air I don't know that people would care as much. In fact, without an Avengers cameo, I think there is a chance that yet another reboot might be even less well received than Webb/Garfield's reboot was.

More details are popping up about Marvel's proposal. Apparently, the reason why talks broke down is because Marvel didn't want anything to do with Andrew Garfield or even Tobey Maguire. The Spider-Man who would have appeared in Civil War would have been a stand-alone character. That's why Sony was like, "nah. forget it." From their point-of-view, that confuses the audience and doesn't benefit their Garfield franchise.

Well than that's not surprising. Seems a little demanding of Marvel... And remember the proposed "new trilogy" made by Marvel but distributed by Sony? They wanted "no romance", which is very odd. I can understand if they're using Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst as an example, but the chemistry and relationship between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone is the ONLY thing everyone loves about the new movies. Plus... Peter Parker's love-life has always been a major part of the comic books. So it makes sense why Sony ended talks with Marvel. They didn't have the right ideas either. I think the best option is to go back to Sam Raimi, which they did attempt, according to leaked e-mails. Wyldstaar can bitch all he wants about Raimi, but the numbers don't lie. Audiences embraced all three of his movies. Yes, even the Internet hated Spider-Man 3 was the highest grossing movie of 2007.

No Garfield? Haha I'm on Sonys side on that. Garfield is really good.
Also no romance?? Okay I can see where there coming from, but I want to see where this series goes. I don't want Garfields movies to end yet. Maybe in 10 years we can get Spider-Man In avengers
