It will be loosely based I think, more than anything.
I wouldn't it past it by Marvel to give us something completely different like "Iron Man 3" was where we thought it was Mandirin and it turned out to be completely false in the end.

I'm still a little skeptical to be honest but yeah I'm seeing a lot of people taking it as fact since the original source was was variety or something (I think)?

Not sure Cap 3 needs to be full on civil war just a situation where the events of Avengers 2 leave Tony fractured and feel pressure when no one blames Tony anymore and learning who killed his parents shakes Iron Man to his metal and really. If is no Iron Man 4 then Cap seems most likely guest star time slot.

Doesn't sound like it's gonna be a guest star or cameo thing though. Articles have been using the term 'co-star'. I have no problem with cameos. Co-starring worries me.

Cameo can work like Cap and the Others are nearly done and Iron Man saves there Bacon and reveals he will be gone a while and thats why Cap forms a new team at the end of Captain America 3.

I have no clue how they are going to do a Civil War. Seems like if they want to stay fairly true to the comics, it would take like 2 movies to do it justice coupled with Spider-Man needing to be involved.

It's worth noting that the official announcement from Marvel Studios only states that Bruhl has been cast in Captain America: Civil War. The claims that Bruhl will be playing the villain of the film are not coming from Kevin Feige or Marvel Studios, and is just a rumor. The claim is coming from Variety, whose unnamed source also claims that Bruhl is going to be the main villain in the Doctor Strange movie.

I'm inclined to believe Variety. I'm inclined to rely on Variety in regard to Bruhl being a minor villain. As for also being the main villain in Doctor Strange, that seems a bit off.

Loki was the main villain in two movies, so... True, but Loki was the main villain in the first issue of The Avengers and had already been established (both in the comics and in the movies) as a primary foe of a member of the team.

badassdigest.com/2014/12/09/marvel-tried-and-failed-to-get-spider-man-in-captain-america-civil-warMarvel Tried AND FAILED To Get Spider-Man In CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WARThe ongoing Sony hack saga has taken a turn that will interest the geeks of the world, as emails reveal that Marvel Studios tried to get Spider-Man to appear in Captain America: Civil War. In the comics Spidey is a huge part of the story, beginning on Iron Man's side and unmasking himself on television before finally joining Captain America's anti-registration rebellion. Fans hoped and prayed that recent rumors about Marvel trying to get a Spidey crossover was about Civil War, so they should be happy to see that Marvel gave it a shot... and failed. That isn't all the hacks reveal about Spider-Man. Doug Belgrad, Sony Pictures president, pitched a new Spider-Man trilogy to be produced by Marvel but distributed by Sony, a compromise that would have made fans happy as well, especially in the wake of the dismal Amazing Spider-Man 2. That plan also fell through. What is Sony doing with Spider-Man? The Wall Street Journal says that there's a comedic Spider-Man cartoon on the table with Phil Lord and Chris Miller at the helm - that's awesome. Everything else will wait until January, which is when Sony executives will have a summit to discuss the future of their struggling (and sole) franchise. My thoughts: this only bolsters the image of Marvel as a forward-thinking, fan-friendly studio and only reinforces the image of Sony as a studio unable to figure out what to do with this property. They had the answer right in their face and blew it. We almost lived in a world where Andrew Garfield, Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr duked it out for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

that would have been epic!
But if they did that, everyone would have been like why was Spidey not around when the entire city of NY was getting invaded by aliens and Loki.

A lot of people thought that Andrew Garfield was going to be one of the surprises at the big press event. I'm sure Marvel was trying to get the deal done by that point as well, but it didn't happen.
I think Sony would have been smart to make some sort of deal with Marvel, especially in their current state. Then again, being that Spidey is one of their only big franchises, maybe the deal felt like a cheat in their eyes. From the sound of things, Sony was interested, but not that interested, regarding the terms.
Would have been pretty awesome. It's still possible (or even probable), especially if the next movies from Sony don't perform as well as they would like.

That would be cool, I would like to see all of the Marvel characters (outside of the X-Men, I don't really care there and I think Fox is doing a fine job) revert back to Marvel ownership.

That's actually a good thing. X-Men and Avengers Universe would not mix well.

You know Wolverine was an Avenger right? And Beast. And I think Storm is one now.
Never mind they had to finnalge in Quicksilver and Scarlette Witch into Age of Ultron.
Why wouldn't it work?
