After Robert Rodriguez hit his head and forgot how to make movies, Matthew Vaughn took on the mantle of over-the-top action-comedies that play it straight. Kingsman: The Golden Circle, like its predecessor, is an R-rated Roger Moore James Bond movie with a dose of Austin Powers. But unlike it, it isn't mixed in with too much Men in Black. Does that make any sense? Probably not. If you're tired of the Nolan-ization of Hollywood, go support Matthew Vaughn. Dude's awesome and knows how to have fun.

Yea I dug it. Solid action flick. Tatum is basically just a glorified cameo though, the actual cameo got more screen time than him.
I'll support more future sequels.
Solid 7 from me.

I actually saw this in theaters, but never got around to posting my thoughts. Anyway...
Am I in the minority on this movie? Cause I quite enjoyed it and it seems like not many others have. Oh well. Anyway...is this more over the top than the first? No doubt, but there's a big reason why the style works here: Matthew Vaughn. The guy just knows how far to go, and when. To be honest, there were a few times where I feared The Golden Circle was veering too far out there, but then it'd be followed by scenes that'd get me back on board for the ride. By no means is this great cinema, and it knows it isn't. Yes, this sequel is more pedal-to-the-medal, balls-to-the-wall crazy in terms of tone, but Vaughn and his team know how to navigate said tone. The action sequences are gloriously crazy and energetic, and the performances from the returning main cast remain solid. Of the new recruits, Pedro Pascal steals the show -- mainly because he's given the most depth and screentime of the new characters.
The Golden Circle may lack some of the patience and focus of its predecessor, but it maintains its smarmy suaveness and sheer energy, still making it entertaining in its own right. It's a Roger Moore-style Bond film, but with more personality.

I liked this as much as the first. Very very long, but solid. Loved all the Elton John cameos.
