Didn't the last adaptation fail? If Fincher can't make this franchise work for Americans, who the heck can?

Didn't the last adaptation fail? If Fincher can't make this franchise work for Americans, who the heck can? Fincher spent and absurd $90 million to make The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. There was no good reason to spend that kind of money on such a simple to film story. Most of it was just people sitting around and talking, but Fincher is always going to go the extra mile to get things exactly the way he wants, no matter the cost. The original Swedish version is very good, and only cost $13 million. I will admit that the Fincher version is better than the original Swedish one, but not $77 million better.

Are me and daniel the only ones that prefer the Swedish version? I prefer the uncut Swedish series, but I like the Fincher movie version better than the cut version of the Swedish series that was edited into a movie.

I love both versions about equally, though I might like the English version more I prefer Noomi Rapace as Lisbeth over Roony Mara (though even then that's pretty fucking close too).
As for this one...eh. I think Fede Alvarez is talented, but I can't get too enthusiastic about them skipping two books in the series by the original author for a licensed one. But I wasn't crazy about Played With Fire and Hornets Nest anyway.

I like Fede Alverez's previous movies and I like this franchise.
That said, this looks like shit. Not feeling Claire Foy as Lisbeth in the slightest, and introducing her as the #metoo superhero is almost unintentionally funny.

She was #metoo superhero before it was fashionable.
