I'm sure most of you were confused as children. Basically, Axis Chemicals makes beauty and hygiene products and Joker is poisoning everyone. Why do mobsters have that sort of business as a front? I guess it's convenient for the plot.

The great thing about Keaton's Batman is that he plays up that whole 'lurking in the shadows' aspect of it. That Bat cave scene with Vicki is great.

Jokers insistence on killing everyone is comical. Plotwise, this is where the movie falls apart. But everything is so well done it doesn't matter. It's like in Raiders after they get the Ark. Logic is out the window but the audience is already hooked so it's just pure entertainment at this point.

Structurally, it's not bad. You got your dumb action scenes and now we can take it down a notch and make it more personal. Everyone follows the Richard Donner/Superman model but this is better. Nolan sort of did it in Dark Knight by ending with Harvey Dent instead of Joker but that movie is so fucking long audiences are restless and want things to wrap up. This movie is a lot better paced. We're not even in the 2 hour mark yet.

This is the most mimicked part of the movie. These days we complain about explosions but how many movies in the 90's ended with people falling to their death? You can blame Die Hard too but that was a different style. This scene here is what people copied. Shit... in 1990 alone you had Ninja Turtles, Dick Tracy and Darkman ending with the villain falling to his death.
