It's sad seeing so many writers I respect try to tear down 3 Billboards over complete nonsense.

Thoughts:
James Franco got fucked over.
Three Billboards didn’t get a Best Director nomination. Classic Oscars oversight or are people overestimating the movie’s chances?
The make-up/hairstyling category continues to be a joke.
I can’t tell if Baby Driver with its 3 editing/sound nominations is a serious candidate or not.
During clips of Baby Driver, are they gonna show Kevin Spacey or not?
Is Blade Runner gonna win anything? Is this finally Roger Deakins year? Or is it gonna get fucked over?
Logan for best adapted screenplay: “we wanna honor you but not too much.”
No Wonder Woman. Sexist!

Damn, Disaster Artist was almost blown out. No Tommy Wiseau at the Oscars but yes to Tonya Harding.

Thoughts: James Franco got fucked over. Probably. If dropping McDonagh got us PTA then I'm cool with it. I would have rather see Peele dropped, but A. I know I'm in the minority there and B. the internet would have probably shit. I hope so. I think Deakins wins here, but Dunkirk could take it. I'll take it. I think this is the first superhero movie to be nominated for Screenplay and that's worth something. They nominated the right female director.

Not enough love for The Florida Project, but I'll take the Phantom Thread love as a concession.

The make-up/hairstyling category continues to be a joke. Could have been worse, I had Bright predicted there.

Not enough love for The Florida Project, but I'll take the Phantom Thread love as a concession. Yeah that's probably the biggest disappointment, especially since it went in with decent buzz.

Thoughts: James Franco got fucked over. Probably. They nominated Denzel instead. It’s an obvious ‘yes’. Considering the love Phantom Thread got, I think PTA was a lock. Greta Gerwig is the one they chose to bump McDonagh. Can’t upset the #MeToo/#TimesUp movement. In fact, she has a strong chance of winning if all the women band together and vote for her. I think the race is between her and Del Toro. I hope there’s more clips of him than Christopher Plummer. Or Shape of Water. I’ll fact-check that later, but you might be right. Suicide Squad has more Oscars than Wonder Woman.

Not enough love for The Florida Project, but I'll take the Phantom Thread love as a concession. Yeah that's probably the biggest disappointment, especially since it went in with decent buzz. They had to make room for those 2 nominations for The Post.
