DraculaBoyhood is done. Birdman just won the Director's Guild Award. It also won the Producers Guild and the Screen Actors Guild for Best Cast. Boyhood did win the Eddie, which is the Editors Guild Award, and it still has a chance at the Writers Guild next weekend. But Birdman has all the key awards to be the frontrunner at the Oscars.

I guess there's some hope for it then, but I don't know how indicative that is, Birdman just opened about a month ago in the UK and it hasn't had the same time to really catch on over there.

... What's the distinction between a Record and an Album? Grammys... so dumb. "Record" is a holdover from a time when singles were commonly released as 45s. "Song" is a holdover from a time when singers rarely. Wrote their own material and songs would be written on tin pan alley and then covered by multiple artists, the award would go directly to the songwriter and the recordings didn't matter. Today it mostly means that cover songs and songs with samples are elligible for record but not song. |

That last number should be 0 or you're out. There's a rumor floating around that maids are the ones who vote at the Oscars. The DVD screeners are sent to people's homes. The ballots are sent to people's homes. There's now online voting. So, literally, anyone with access can vote. Last year, there was an Academy member who admitted to a reporter that his teenage son told him who to vote for. |

Honestly, it's probably for the best. I can't speak for Shameless but it's always looked more like a drama than a comedy, and the same can be said for Orange is the New Black. It's interesting that they're doing it based on runtime though, as I think they should just decide on a case by case basis. |

I can't speak for Shameless Shameless is definitely a comedy. Eh. The lines are blurred on that show. It really depends on the episode. But generally, I consider it a comedy as well. |
