Anyone have advice on converting 8mm, Super 8 and/or VHS to digital/DVD? The best option for VHS appears to be $40-$70 devices on Amazon that have composite and USB jacks. As for film transfer, apparently there are places I can send them, like Costco.

I saw this thread just now.
I've used Costco a few times to convert VHS tapes and it's worked out pretty well. Granted you aren't going to have anything of quality but it will at least preserve what you want to hold onto.
My mom converted a bunch of childhood videos at Costco a couple years back and made DVD copies for me and each of my siblings. She didn't look at the tapes, just dropped them off and said 'DVD me.' Little did she know my dad taped over a few of the videos with Roots way back in the 80s. So now we have some great childhood memories mixed in with random episodes of Roots.

You might want to just check the yellow pages, there are some mom and pop places around the country that specialize in stuff like that.
