It hit me pretty hard when I first heard yesterday morning and suddenly, on the way home from work today, it hits me again. I can honestly say that its hit me harder than say, David Bowie, or Prince. I tend to have a certain reverence for the bands I listened to in Junior High and High School, and Soundgarden was definitely no exception. It was one of those bands that helped me get through some really tough times, otherwise known as "my teenage years," so I guess that's why. I dunno. I've never been able to put into words this sort of sentiment, so I usually don't...but I dunno. Its hit me pretty damned hard.

A report on NPR about Chris that I caught yesterday stated that he dropped out of school in the seventh grade! He did later go on to earn a GED. The guy did pretty well for himself under the circumstances.
