Ontario has now moved into stage 3 of reopening. Masks are still required but we now have indoor dining back and theatres reopened, capacities are much bigger.

I hate this pandemic because I know this will spike the numbers up some, no matter what and with the Delta variant as majority strain, are we going to be mired in lock downs come Fall? A lot of Ontario is now vaccinated so another wave shouldn't be as bad but we will see.

Apparently, one of our radio DJ's went on the air today, and told the listeners to quit messaging him and calling him a Nazi because of it.

Philly strongly suggesting masks for everyone but hasn't quite yet reinstituted the mandate just yet.

Delta is around the burgh but our case numbers remain pretty low. But working in office regularly has me checking the daily case numbers again a bit more closely.

Like most cities we are a bit over 55% fully inoculated.

Not worried for myself necessarily but my niece, still not entirely sure if you can spread it with a breakthrough infection. The increasing numbers would tell me you prob can.

Yea that's my assumption as well but the amount of people sick and vaccinated people just doesn't make sense with that logic.

Sure the unclean will always make the clean dirty but 3/4 of all positives in Singapore are vaccinated people. Are we to assume all these people got it from one of the unclean masses? The UK at 23% of all positives being vaccinated makes more sense maybe more in line with the logic that only the unvaccinated can spread it but I dunno. Some of the transmission numbers even across USA are worrying and strange to only be the unclean spreading it.

Pretty much all of these are milder cases, but some are severe. And no word on breakthrough cases with a splash of long covid. Too many unknowns to be spouting off absolutes in any direction.

Or blaming it on people just being misanthropic and lazy.

Do you have much delta in Canada yet? It's barely up to the north east of the United States. And I've heard only about 50% of all Canadians are fully vaccinated (granted I'm sure your populace as a whole wears masks better and prob socially distances better than the states). A single shot gives you something like 33% protection, for reference singapore has a similar percent vaccinated to Canada, still they are seeing a sharp rise.

I just don't think delta has arrived yet. It hasn't really arrived in the state of pa yet either, just seeing our numbers begin to rise, should be steadily climbing as the summer ends. And school kids will def spread delta around. It's unavoidable.

I've been partially shunned from a work friend group for making blanket statements blaming the unvaxxed for our current situation.

It's never unprompted, its when they're posting some stupid shit in a group chat.

I had to walk it back on sunday saying I was speaking as to "how the govt would respond with mask mandates and I understand peoples choices".

I'm likely dropping a few of these folks if they blow up again.

But I hear you--it's funny we're the ones that have to walk on eggshells, be compassionate etc when they have no regard for others.

I'm at my wits end.

On a lighter note

Sorry to dredge up this recent topic about problems with friend groups and vaccination issue but it's become a huge issue for me too.

My wife and I have a lot of mutual friends who are couples and we all have fairly similar interests and beliefs. Covid has caused us to seriously reflect on whether we want to continue to be connected to some of them. There are some jaw dropping differences between us in regard to charity, love of neighbour and overall compassion for those vulnerable to Covid. Im no angel and I'm not trying to virtue signal here. This being said, it's pretty clear to me that if your Catholic, which I am, a big part of that is making choices to not harm others and try and be supportive of life. I don't get the paranoia that is out there that these vaccines are all going to mutate us or we all become infertile and on and on... I have friends who won't vaccinate and they are all about reopening completely and think masks are pointless and it's all about big government trying to overpower the little guy. Anyway, I'm getting frustrated as I write this so I'm going to wrap it. These friends seem to hold these beliefs from elitist positions of being white,financially secure and seem to have turned off their brains to only listen to what proves their positions. They have this idea of God will protect them and I don't dispute that, per se, but God also works through scientists who make vaccines.

Losing friends sucks. I dont want to do it anymore.
