What are some of the best? I'm looking for some summer reading.
I'm a big fan of Mark Harris and his Pictures at a Revolution and Five Came Back, and I've also read Easy Riders and Raging Bulls. I welcome any suggestions.

Dude, you watch movies all the time, you take classes about movies. Don't let your life become singular! Read books about something else. Like bird-watching maybe.
On that note, I recommend The Sibley Guide to Birds of North America.

Heh, I didn't say I was just gonna read books about movies. I also have a healthy pile of science-fiction to go through.

Silver Screen Fiend: Learning About Life From an Addiction to Film by Patton Oswald
It's really good, very funny and fairly short.

Can't help much, I usually only read nonfiction in audiobook form and very few good film books come that way, those Mark Harris books being the exception.

I'm a fan of Ray Carney's work on John Cassavetes, I'd recommend his stuff. I used to have several books on Godard that I've since lost.

At least he doesn't read Eragon. Jeremy Irons dislikes this.

If anyone is interested there is a really nicely done Audio Drama on Audible
Alien: Out of the Shadows By: Tim Lebbon, Dirk Maggs
It takes place after Ripley is the only survivor of the Nostromo.
It came out 4 years ago, but I just got it because it was free for members this month

When I worked at a bookstore I found a book on movies which was basically a critic giving his thoughts and reflections on his favourite movies. I do not remember the title of the book, nor the name of the critic, but I sure liked it. Should have bought it.
