Regal recently left the market Whaaat?! Their theaters were bought up by AMC and Emagine... except for the one that got leveled and turned into a driving range.

GALAXY OF TERROR (1981) / FORBIDDEN WORLD (1982)Roger Corman did two Alien knock-offs. One has a woman raped by a worm, the other has barely legal boobs. Pick your poison. Galaxy of Terror is a bit more notable because it features set designs, special effects and 2nd unit direction by James Cameron - which gives it much needed production value. Forbidden World is a lot more straightforward and emphasizes the horror over the sci-fi. Both are schlock in different ways. Kudos to Corman for keeping things interesting.

Let's honor Kirk Douglas by reviewing one of his most beloved movies: SATURN 3 (1980)This piece of shit would have easily been disregarded by SnoBorderZero had it not been for the talent in front and behind the camera. It stars a 62-year-old Kirk Douglas who's in better shape at that age than Doomsday has been his entire life (hence living another 40 years), Farrah Fawcett near the end of her "teenagers masturbate to my poster" heyday and Harvey Keital dubbed by another actor. It's directed by the dude who made Singing in the Rain. It's a career low for everyone involved, except for maybe Elmer Bernstein who does a pretty good score. This subject matter is worthy of a PG Cooper video essay. The premise of the movie is that Earth is over-populated so scientists have begun prepping other planets for colonization. Our story takes place on a research facility on Saturn's third moon. Harvey Keital unleashes a robot powered by brain tissue and Douglas & Fawcitt fight it. This could have been a 40-minute Outer Limits episode and it would have been okay. Instead it's a 90-minute borefest. There's no rhyme or reason or stake to anything that's happening.

Can always rely on you to inform me about movies no one knew existed. I’ve heard of it, and even started to watch it. The thing was so boring that I didn’t last long.
Saturn 3 is yet another in a long line of sci-fi films meant to capitalize on the success of Star Wars and Alien. Bargain basement foreign films like Starcrash, Message From Space, and Alien Contamination never stood much of a chance. Films with real money behind them like The Black Hole and Saturn 3 could have been something worth watching if the folks behind them had put some thought and effort in.

I can say without a doubt that Mars Attacks! is the greatest movie based on a set of trading cards I've ever seen.

SnoBorderZeroUNFORGETTABLE (1996)Ray Liotta stars as a doctor who takes a serum that can transfer people's memories into his brain. He uses it to solve his wives murder. It's an interesting concept... to say the least. Liotta hams it up. Something different for him.

I'm sure the execution is awful or else I would've heard of/seen this movie by now, but that is kind of a neat premise that in the right hands could maybe work. Maybe. At the least a fun Black Mirror episode. I... might watch this.

OUTLAND (1981) Speaking of Peter Hyams, here's another science fiction movie he made that takes place on Jupiter. Why is this guy obsessed with Jupiter? I don't know. But I can tell you this, Outland is a much better film. It's literally "High Noon in Space." Sean Connery plays the new sheriff at a mining town in Jupiter. When he arrives, he quickly discovers that there's a major drug abuse problem among the miners. During his investigation he learns that Peter Boyle, the manager of the mining company, is responsible but he is too powerful to be arrested, so instead, he destroys the latest shipment of drugs. As retaliation, Peter Boyle hires a group of assassins to come to Jupiter and take care of James Bond for him. When Connery finds out, he seeks help but everyone turns their back on him because they're either afraid, part of the operation, or paid-off. So like Gary Cooper in High Noon, he has to deal with the bad guys on his own. Overall, I think it's a very cool movie. Peter Hyams took a standard `80s action film, involving drug dealers, and turned it into a science fiction movie. You don't see that everyday. And I love how he downplays the sci-fi. Once you're in this mining town, it feels like a real place. And that makes it easier to connect with the story and characters.
