Just watched the Pilot. VERY Fincher in all the right ways, and also well-written. But this won't be an easy show to binge. Not because it's bad, but because there's such a disturbing frankness to the way it presents and deals with its subject matter that you'll most likely need a breather between episodes.

Digging it. Want to finish the show before I make any broad proclamations, but I am curious about how others are interpreting over arching themes, particularly in episode 4.
But true crime is simply in my wheel house and the casting is phenomenal.

The female doesn't like watching it at night... More and more I keep seeing the demerits of cohabitation ... But what we have watched I've enjoyed. The females in the show are still stilted and weird though, with what's her faces new girl just replacing Ford's hippie ex from last season.
Still a quality production. I've very much enjoyed what I've watched.

Haven't started Season 2 yet. Will most likely get to it after I finish up The Boys. I think I remember all the main plot points from Season 1, though.

Still haven't gotten around to Season 2, honestly.
But I get it. With Fincher wanting to focus more on making films again, and since he was basically the showrunner, a 3rd season would've been even farther off than the two-year gap between Seasons 1 and 2. He wasn't going to ask the cast to wait around and turn down other jobs in the meantime.

Fine with me. I don't like that they just look to pump out as much as possible and turn their backs on the products that are actually good. I also turned off the auto features like automatically sending you to the next episode or movie. Netflix just wants you to binge it all. Heavens no, you can't let the credits roll, there's more content to see! Why don't you try one of our garbage movies we rushed into production? We won't make more Mindhunter, but you can choose from one of the several pieces of shit we've conjured up for you this month instead! Less quantity, more quality, more loyalty. That mantra goes against their business model, and it shows. |
