Did the events of DOFP spawn a new timeline, Star Trek style? Everything that happened in X-Men: First Class and DoFP still stands. The opening credits of Wolverine Origins, First Class, DOFP and X-Men are still canon. X2, The Last Stand and The Wolverine have been erased. Apocalypse CAN alter or erase X-Men, but for now, it's still canon.

Refresh my memory, why is the first X-Men still canon? Wasn't that undone by the events of DoFP?

Refresh my memory, why is the first X-Men still canon? Wasn't that undone by the events of DoFP? Rogue. I know there's a "Rogue Cut" being released on Blu-Ray later this year, but to my knowledge, that doesn't undo anything that happened in X-Men. She still goes to Canada. She still meets Wolverine. She still gets rescued by the X-Men when Sabertooth attacks. Magneto still uses her to turn humans into mutants. Nothing in DOFP contradicts any of this. To our knowledge, all the events in X-Men still happened. X2 was erased because Jean is still normal. The Last Stand and The Wolverine were erased because everyone is still alive. Post-credits Wolverine Origins is erased because of the time travel. But there's no evidence that anything in X-Men was changed except for "the twist ending" where Mystique rescues Wolverine from the police. That could lead to some interesting stuff, but nothing that contradicts X-Men so far.

Well, there is also the issue of young Professor X looking into Wolverine's mind in order to speak to his older self, in conjunction with the Butterfly Effect. Charles was looking for himself in Wolverine's mind, and as a result saw everything that Logan knew in relation to himself. The reason Jean is alive and well in the future at the end of DoFP can be credited to this glimpse into the future that Charles received. He now knows better than to just lock away the Phoenix and hope for the best, amongst a great many other things that Logan knew about, such as Rogue and Colonel Stryker.

Go back and watch The Last Stand. Xavier and Erik are friends and they recruit Jean into their school and their conflicting views affects the way Jean is raised. Erik is gone now. That partnership is done. Xavier is by himself now, except for the occasional help from Beast. That creates a chain reaction and puts Xavier in a different position when Jean comes along. The only person he has to talk to and bounce ideas from is Beast. That's gonna lead to a whole new series of events.

Go back and watch The Last Stand. Why do you hate me? You must hate me, otherwise you wouldn't tell me to watch a Brett Ratner movie.

The Last Stand is not THAT bad. Brett Ratner just took Matthew Vaughn's script and reduced it to a 90 minute movie. It has lots of flaw because of that, but it also has all the strengh of Vaughn's creative ideas. Killing off major characters raised the stakes. Making Rogue human made sense, despite what fanboys think. The action scenes are still the best in the franchise. The emotions are in the right place. There is a lot to admire about The Last Stand.

Yeah, its really not terrible. The premise was a great one, and under a better director I think it could have been very strong.

Sarcasm? Jubilee is worse than Dazzler, and that's saying a lot.

Sarcasm? Jubilee is worse than Dazzler, and that's saying a lot. Obviously. When I was in college, I took a trip to Daytona, and on the ride over there, my friends and I got into a discussion about the worst characters in cartoon history. We settled on a tie between Jubilee from X-Men and Ma-Ti from Captain Planet.

Even back in the animated series years I can remember thinking Jubilee was unworthy of her lead billing.

I have no feelings on this. She is not very likeable in real life, at least from talk show appearances but she was ok in The Newsroom.

She was naked in Magic Mike. Not my type at all. Sadly I think she has gotten by on her looks but I do not see how.
