Worst part of this news is that those two aren't dead.
"A powerhouse duo..."
Give me a break, those two are literally the worst disgraces in Hollywood history. And I mean that.

Their movies don't even make money. There has to be some tax-related reason these guys keep getting work. Like, Disney just made $800 million in profits but also made Alice 2, The BFG and Pete's Dragon and got some tax reduction/write-off on that.

They literally had to get rid of it cause he abused the system. Uwe Boll is German or Russian or some shit like that. One of those governments paid for the shitty movies.

One of those governments paid for the shitty movies. www.quora.com/How-and-why-does-Uwe-Boll-still-get-funding"Up to 2005, when the law changed, Germany used tax measures to incentivise film investment. Essentially, a tax break of 100% for investment and also a write off of any banking fees associated if you chose to borrow the investment funds. The only tax you would pay on the invested sum was on any profits made by the film (which, of course, was not particularly common for a Uwe Boll film). So, by borrowing the investment from a bank, a wealthy individual could write off the majority of their tax bill and usually reclaim at least 50% from movie profits. Essentially, they halved their tax bill by investing. Purpotedly, Uwe Boll had his own tax shelter fund at the time and utilised this extensively to fund the majority of his films."

These two ass clowns are the primary reason that the spoof genre is almost completely dead these days. What they do isn't even truly spoofing. It's just pop-culture references combined with farts and crotch injuries. If Lego Batman weren't coming out tomorrow, I'd say the spoof genre is completely dead. Perhaps there's hope.
Speaking of hope, I can't help but have some genuine hope that this cinematic sopository won't actually happen. A Star Wars spoof has the potential to be very expensive, even with these idiots at the helm. The primary reason their garbage gets produced is because it can be made cheaply. If it looks like that's not going to happen, the production could fall apart. Announced movies get cancelled all the time.

They can afford a shitty spoof movie. They're not trying to do Spaceballs.

That sounds a lot like the plot of The Producers...
