I didn't post often but when I did I would troll the shit out of people. You're the reason they're shutting it down. The message boards for old(er) movies and TV shows ranged from okay-ish to decent, but the new releases were a cesspool of trolling. They don't wanna pay for moderators anymore. |

I really miss the messageboards solely for the fact that you could usually find the name of certain songs used in films that were not listed on any soundtrack, or in films that were too independent to have that kind of information out there. Also, I had questions about dumb little things in some lesser known films, and it was a good place to get info.
Otherwise, yeah, the IMDB boards seemed to breed a special type of aggressive asshole. Not entirely, but a lot of opinions shared on there turned into rage-mode quicker than most discussions on even Reddit. It's like people hate it and take it entirely too personally when someone doesn't share their opinion. Dumb.

I tried to spread the word about this place but you guys haven't watched Split or John Wick 2 or Get Out. People wanna talk about the new hip movies. So the only new person we got was some guy spamming Star Wars news.

I spammed a few boards with our CS! link too. The only replies I got were that another unofficial IMDB forum had already been set up, kinda like this one. Not sure what the link to that is.

The Movie Database, which is where Letterboxd gets its info from, set up a message board shortly after IMDb made its announcement. A lot of people seemed to have flocked there. They're also claiming to switch to Letterboxd for reviews so we might see a switch in Letterboxd culture. |
