Fox already has a pretty solid All About Eve blu-ray. I've made some very silly upgrades to Criterion but this one might be a bit much. Alright, I bought the Fox version based on your recommendation. |

I usually see the post from the Criterion page on Facebook and sometimes I might have heard of 1 of the 5 or 6 movies being released on any given month but the FB comments still say 'This month is STACKED!' or 'Best month ever!!' Again, I'm getting old.

Toho is rough to deal with. Apparently they're remastering the films in 4K, but they don't want Japanese consumers to import an American set over purchasing one of their own, so they hand over the outdated transfers to us. The first Godzilla looks the best, that's because Criterion used their previous transfer. The US version of King Kong vs. Godzilla looks good too, which came straight from Universal. The Japanese King Kong vs. Godzilla looks the worst, because they old HD transfer is cobbled together from various sources (some of which were SD) because the film's negative was chopped up in the 70's. Godzilla Raids Again looks rough, as well. The films look better after that though, and I think a few of them are quite nice upgrades over the Classic Media DVDs. |

I'll probably check out Show Boat because I want to see more of James Whale's stuff.
Other than that, they released new Chaplin and Lloyd releases last year. That means I have another five to go before the next ones.
