Unfortuantely Rolling Stone did not know I would have probably written that for cheaper than whoever did write it, I seem to share most of their tastes.

Eh, Breaking Bad is really high.
OK, there's no Futurama or Firefly. That's bullshit.

Eh, Breaking Bad is really high. That's because Breaking Bad is fucking amazing. I went through the series again last month and it holds up like hell.

Or is there a longer list?

Breaking Bad is incredible, it absolutely belongs high on this list. Some of the entries are questionable and I don't know how well they've spanned TV history and diverse shows on the list, but for the most part it's solid I guess. Not sure why we need both entries of The Office when there's plenty of great shows not on here for example.

Breaking bad is a great show yes, but #3? I just think of all the boring Skylar stuff and I jsut dont know...
I think both Office's deserve a spot. They both made their own unique marks.

I actually really liked Skylar and her subplot.
Edit: Actually, I'd say Twin Peaks would be my number one. It's one I re-watch all the time.

Yeah, none of the storylines in Breaking Bad stood out as boring or uninteresting to me.

Yes, SNL has given us some of our most beloved comedians however it should also be factored in that only about 2% of SNL's sketch output is even remotely funny. The rest is pure, unsaturated dogshit and always has been. Top 100 tv shows? Sure. Top 10? Go to hell. You can say how 'game-changing' it was until you're blue in the face, it doesn't make it good.

I wouldn't put it in the top ten either but there is a certain point where a show's impact on pop culture sort of transcends its actual quality and when something is as long lasting as SNL it's bound to have made some impact worth recognizing. Like, you say that only 2% of it's good. Okay, there have been 808 episodes, 90 minutes each for 72,720 total minutes of television. 2% of that is 1454.40 minutes or about 24 hours. That's enough for 2 absolutely perfect seasons of a sitcom and that would be more than enough to earn a place on the list.

You could make the same argument about the Simpsons, but the 8 years that obviously put it on the list were so damn good, does it negate all the years of mediocrity that followed?

Yeah, I think it does. TV is different from film (especially comedy series), it's just as valid to judge things episode to episode or season to season and you don't necessarily need to judge them in their totality IMO.

Doomsday talking shit. I would say at least 25% of SNL is good. 75-79 were good years for the show. Eddie Murphy was gold. 86-94 have enough classic sketches to make any show envious. And there's good stuff sprinkled throughout the other seasons. Shit, maybe 30% of the show is good. Anyway, IanTheCool , I do think a show should be given credit if it manages to be good throughout its entire run. The best episodes of The Simpsons are better than the best episodes of South Park, but South Park is the better show for maintaining its quality for 20 years while The Simpsons fell apart after about 10.
