Sony and director Paul Feig have cast Chris Hemsworth to play the receptionist in the female-driven “Ghostbusters” reboot.

Feig made the announcement Wednesday on Twitter.

Hemsworth is set to join Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones in the movie, which hits theaters next year.

Feig, whose new comedy “Spy” debuted to no. 1 at the U.S. box office, will direct the next installment in the “Ghosbusters” franchise on a script co-written by Katie Dippold.

Story details are unknown other than the reboot centers on the next generation of Ghostbusters, who happen to be female. Ivan Reitman will produce the action-comedy.

Insiders say the studio went to Hemsworth very early on in the process for one of the major male roles but the Aussie actor passed because the role was too small. Since then Sony sent the script back to be reworked so the part could be beefed up.

Production on “Ghostbusters” to start later this summer with the film scheduled to bow on July 22, 2016.

Known more for his action heavy role like “Thor,” “Snow White and the Huntsman” and the upcoming “In the Heart of the Sea,” Hemsworth is said to be wanting to broaden his brand and get into more comedies starting with his juicy role in the upcoming “Vacation” reboot, which opens this July.

Besides “Vacation” and “In the Heart of the Sea” which bows this December, Hemsworth also has “The Huntsman,” which he is currently filming. He is repped by CAA and ROAR.

Its not really called Female Ghosbusters is it. I personally say scrap bot ideas and make a a moder day GB team of 3 men and two women. Dump enough cash in Bills lap and say do this set up for us so we can get this right unlike Ghostbusters 2.

Neil Casey from Other Space was just cast as the villain in Lady Ghostbusters (unofficial official title).

Casey does improv in New York and LA pretty frequently. I've seen him perform several times with Zach Woods. Here's both of them doing a pretty good set.

Doesn't look too bad. It's not the classic ambulance but I can see a hurst as a good choice. The red trim and back may take a while to grown on me.

It was an old ambulance and one of the huge iconic images people think of when it comes to Ghostbusters. I think it would have been better to use that than a hurst if they wanted to pay a bit of a tribute to the originals.

The military jokes over the reflective strips just make me cringed over this movie might disappoint.

Have to make sure this ghost see you before you blast them.

I hate the uniforms.

People will never stop bitching about this movie.
