Star Trek premiered 50 years ago. In its first season it aired Thursday nights on NBC, opposite Bewitched on ABC and the CBS Thursday Night Movie. Its ratings, although fantastic for today's standards, were mediocre at the time. After only a month on the air, the show ranked 51st. Three years later, it was cancelled. But it found life on syndication, and today, it is one of the most iconic shows of all-time.
