My main memory from Interstellar live was Zimmer explaining how all Nolan had told him was that it was a film about a father and his daughter, then he asked him to write something. And with that limited info he wrote this: Then Nolan elaborated on the plot and Zimmer said that he wrote this intimate track, yet Nolan's film was as epic and expansive as it gets... he felt like he'd got it wrong. But Nolan told him it was exactly what he wanted. I know Zimmer gets flack here, from Neverending especially, and I don't doubt he phones in a lot of his scores, but having seen him in person describing his process with Nolan I 100% believe that he salivates at the prospect of Nolan's next movie. I mean, just listen to TDK, Inception, Interstellar. Phenomenal! I can't wait for Dunkirk. Its feels like we've seen everything there is to see from WW2, but I think this may be the last word on it. I think Zimmer is going to make his masterpiece.
