Huge (alleged) fireworks explosion in Lebanon. Gonna be a lot of casualties as the firefighters were on scene working on the blaze before this explosion.

I think the initial blaze was at a fireworks factory but it spread to an adjacent building containing highly combustible materials. Surely no amount of fireworks could cause a blast of that magnitude?!

While the initial reports indicated a store of fireworks, they've since amended it. The secondary explosion was caused by "high explosive materials confiscated years ago," If I had to venture a guess, the explosives were put in a warehouse unsuited to safely storing unstable materials and ignored.
This is why the US stores it's explosives in bunkers far away from people, rather than in a warehouse by the shipping docks.
