Because of Adventure Time and Steven Universe, people can debate that cartoons/kids shows are better today, but there was a lot more variety back then. Doug, Rugrats and Ren & Stimpy are different shows. Clarissa Explains It All, Salute Your Shorts and Are You Afraid of the Dark are different shows. Double Dare was on at the time as well. Lots of options. |

This is true.
Kids today really have no idea how great those after school cartoons were. Also, it's not even including the amount of contests and game shows we had. It really was the golden age of cartoons/kids television.

Kids today really have no idea how great those after school cartoons were. Because of the Internet and the proliferation of video games, weekday afternoon and Saturday morning cartoons aren't a thing anymore. And because of the shift in sleeping habits, kids no longer wake up at 6 in the morning and watch cartoons while getting ready for school. That resulted in the decline of variety in kids television. Each channel has 3 or 4 shows they air in rotation. |
