Of all the major animated films released this year so far, The Secret Life of Pets is the one most geared at children. It's quick and to the point. The humor is largely inoffensive. There aren't really any tear jerking moments. It's just a 90 minute babysitter. But don't get too alarmed. This isn't Spy Kids or some other crappy kids movie. Adults will like it too. The pets are cute. There ARE relatable moments. The music is great. It's... fun... for the most part. My only genuine complaint is the Toy Story inspired plot. There was a much more interesting story that they could have explored, but I'm assuming they're saving it for the sequel.
