 Who would have thought that a Disney movie about a fox and a rabbit searching for a missing animal would pull a Happy Feet? By that I mean - remember when Happy Feet went from dancing penguins to Captain Planet? In Zootopia, it takes a similar u-turn except it isn't about the environment, it's about, well, Donald Trump and the Black Lives Matter movement. I know. I know. This movie must have taken years to make. It can't be specifically about those subjects. But - in a way - it is. I don't wanna get into spoilers but it does tackle racism, fear mongering, political corruption and police brutality. Seriously! It gets dark. But to the filmmakers credit, unlike in Happy Feet, the tone is consistent. It never feels like you're watching two different movies. Rich Moore, who worked on The Simpsons, Futurama and Wreck It Ralph knows how to balance cartoon humor with drama and social commentary. So if you had any concerns, don't. It's in good hands. |

Zootopia is a Disney movie so it goes without saying that it was BEAUTIFUL to watch! But it's something else as well, this is a smart movie with clever writing and some very adult jokes sneaked in there.
For a movie about a rabbit and a fox this movie has a positive teachable messages in the movie, perseverance, tolerance, open-mindedness, all wrapped in a funny and touching movie with characters that you'll root for and love.
Disney has been a roll these days, with Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen, and Big Hero 6. You can easily add this movie to the top of that list.
