It opens at my dollar theater tomorrow, I'll finally catch it sometime in the next few days while everyone else rushes out to see Civil War.

It'll be beautiful, an empty theater with just me, my mom and a bucket of popcorn that she bought for me on a Tuesday afternoon. Ahhh the good life.

Crowds are not really my thing (nor am I especially excited to hear overly excited people giggling and yelling, which is why I had to try really hard to ignore everyone during The Force Awakens), so I usually do that with movies I'm not excited to see. Civil War is one that I'll see this weekend because my girlfriend is a Marvel fan.

I get it, Deadpool isn't supposed to be the run of the mill comic book character. He's crass, he's offensive and he breaks the fourth wall. I just didn't dig it. I admit that it's mostly due to my preferences in comedy that I'm typically not impressed by lowest common denominator dick and ball humor, the main type of humor used on Deadpool. The thing about this movie is that the idea of the movie seems to be more enjoyable than the movie itself. On paper Deadpool sounds like a fun ride. In practice it just hit those beats without really taking it anywhere. For a two hour superhero movie not a whole lot happens. There's an obligatory origin story albeit in flashback which is at least kind of a change of pace. But the villains don't amount to a whole lot, there's not much of a story or a situation, everything exists for Deadpool to mock and so Deadpool can rattle off some boner jokes. You might think 'Oh Doomsday, you just don't get it' but really, what is there to get? Rather I'll just admit that this just wasn't my speed, I didn't find it very funny because I'm not 14 and otherwise there wasn't much else to offer. The time I do remember laughing was Colossus puking after Deadpool shoots a guy in the head. Just the idea of Colossus getting sick is silly enough to work.
Oh, and be sure to be on the lookout for a surprise cameo by Stan Lee. Yes, THE Stan Lee! He created several Marvel characters and people thought it would be creative to FINALLY give him a cameo in a Marvel movie. I'm glad they finally figured a way to work him in there somehow.
Although despite what I said in the Civil War thread, this post-credits scene is actually really funny.
C- so says Doomsday

No, I agree wiht you for the most part on this particular film. It just seems like most of your reviews are attacking the general consensus.

Is this because I didn't like Grown Ups 2? I'm sure there are others who agree with me!

For what it's worth, I had fun during Deadpool. I chuckled a few times and I found the action to be decent. But to be honest, it's a pretty mediocre film overall with some juvenile gags that are unfortunately dead on arrival. From what I know (and my knowledge of comics is limited, so cut me some slack), it nailed the spirit of the comics, but I can't really say that it's anything more than just an exercise in being self-consciously clever.

IanTheCool Doomsday PhantomKnightIt's dangerous going to Best Buy. I bought the Deadpool steelbook, Zootopia, The Shrek Collection and The Big Lewbowski on steelbook. I also saw Batman AND Batman Returns on steelbook and the original Evil Dead on steelbook. Temptation was so damn high, but I already have those movies on DVD so they can wait. Hopefully, they'll be there the next time I go. I could tell that Batman and Batman Returns are top-sellers. There was only two or three of each. They better restock! Funny, the Deadpool steelbook wasn't on display. I hate to be that customer, but since I'm a semi-frequent customer and have done the damn survey, I asked one of the employees if they had it in the back. Surprisingly, they did. So if they run out of Batman and Batman Returns, they better be in the back too!

I used to work at Best Buy and even still I can't remember the last time I walked into one, wow. Some Best Buy's are basically Radio Shack's now, but a few are the classic Best Buy's minus the music - face it, no one buys CD's anymore. And for the last year or two, these classic style Best Buy's are the best retail stores to buy Blu-Ray's. Target used to be awesome, and my go-to place, but they reduced their movie section to make room for cellphones - the same shit that happened to those Radio Shack style Best Buy's except on a bigger scale. And Wal-Mart is usually only good for new releases. Well, always, really. Even when they surprise you with classic movies it's just a new release of that movie. But these classic style Best Buy's are kicking ass. Every time I go I waste at least $60-80. Not only do they have all the steelbook's, but a lot of collections at a reasonable price and lots of old/older movies.

I get 99% of everything online. Do you shop in-store for the steelbooks?

Don't feel bad about making the employee go to the back. They should already have it on the shelf. This is speaking from a past futureshop (canadian best buy) employee.

I've worked the store AND the warehouse, so I know people's perception "of the back" isn't accurate. It's either a storage room filled with boxes or an actual warehouse that's practically separate from the store - with its own management & staff. So asking an employee if it's in the back is the most annoying thing you can do.

Yeah, I get most of my movies/TV shows online now, but I still pop into Best Buy, FYE or other places that sell them as often as possible. But like Neverending, the temptation is always high for me whenever I do. For example, recently I was in FYE a lot and they just had one of their usual "Buy One, Get One For $1" sale on all used movies/shows/CDs. So, using that, I first picked up Black Mass and Nightcrawler together on Blu Ray, then a few days later, I went back and upgraded these to Blu: Casino Royale, Get Smart, Spider-Man 2 and Transformers. All together, it cost me about $40.
I will say that I do enjoy getting to browse in the stores, but I think for me, Best Buy and FYE are pretty much tied for who has the best selection.

They closed all the stores near me, like, 5 years ago. In high school, my friends and I would go to the mall and spend AT LEAST an hour browsing through FYE's music, movies and merchandise. We didn't buy anything, just hang out. Well, that isn't entirely true. There was two FYE's I used to go to. One was a BIG store in a major mall and everything was overpriced. The other was in small, I wanna say, neighborhood mall. That's where I did most of my movie shopping. There was also Spec music, which I think is owned by FYE, but that place was a fucking dump. At least the one near me. I only went there if I was REALLY desperate. It was the Circuit City of music stores.

Or have the shelves fully stocked in the first place.
