The tagline in the commercial I saw was "everything you love bout 24 is coming back."
Me: "Jack Bauer? No? Yeah, nothing I love about 24 is coming back."
I can't be bothered to watch this.

For me so far, Jack Bauer not being in the show isn't what's holding it back. Obviously Kiefer Sutherland made this show, but I'm not going to dismiss it solely because it's moving forward with a different storyline. Also keep in mind that Sutherland is the one that didn't want to come back in order to be in Designated Survivor. Will Jack resurface? I'm sure he will... if this show makes it past this season.
The problem so far is that it feels a bit routine and stock. Now, it's only 2 episodes in and I'm going to watch the entire season, but so far it feels like a lesser version of more of the same.

I think Dracula is right. The show has bad timing. By making the hero Black and having him arrested in the 2nd episode, the show was clearly developed during a different political climate. They're now in the middle of Trump Land and it feels outdated with it's usual Muslim bad guys. 24 is very much a Bush era show and 24: London adapted to Obama by focusing on drones. 24: Legacy should have come out in summer 2016 (or earlier). |

It does all feel a bit... out of place. But again, it's only been 2 episodes and while the show in the past has always fallen back on its routines, you can never say that it plays itself out as predictable.

It's about a billionaire running a police station and giving cops all sorts of crazy weapons. It's escapism from Trump. The GOOD billionaire instead of the terrifying Hitler-like one. |

This show has still been really ho-hum thus far. The last episode had some cool elements, but again it all just feels like lesser retreads of Jack Bauer's escapades. I'm watching the whole season no matter what, but this show really needs to inject some new life into it fast because I don't see this show coming back at this rate.
