Barnum gave a voice to the voiceless is the nonsense that awful movie tries to pander in one of the most feeble, preening attempts at celebrating diversity I've seen in a Hollywood movie. Not to mention Barnum was a complete piece of shit who didn't give a fuck about anyone he was exploiting, whether it be employee or attendee. The movie is also just total crap from cinematic standpoints as well. Shit should've remained buried, but hey, Trump is president so I'm not surprised by anything anymore. |

To end my ranting disdain for that movie, it's also one of those annoying musicals where every conflict is solved simplistically through songs.
His wife sees him kiss another woman. She's supposedly pissed at him.
That is until he sings "their song", she chimes in, and all is forgiven. Bleh!
Those are the absolute worst kind of musicals, where there's no real plot but instead everything is just an exercise in hurrying you to the next expositional song. Bleh!

I enjoy The Greatest Showman, but mostly for its songs and energy. The criticism of it being overly simplistic on a script level -- I'm not gonna argue that at all. I get it. Each time I've watched it, I've cringed a little more at some of the writing. But it coasts by on the strength of its songs.
