Widows performing so poorly is disappointing. People love to bitch and moan about the death of the mid-budget movie, but then a movie like Widows comes along with an easy to grasp high-concept, a great cast, an Oscar winning director, and generally likes like an accessible piece of entertainment for adults, and no one cares.
We get the movies we deserve, I guess.

Putting it out during award season was a mistake, it has to compete with all of those movies for that crowd and it also as to compete with family movies for more general audiences.

Everyone keeps saying how the movies are back to being strong since there are much higher returns this year. Nobody is really giving credit to moviepass for basically changing how theaters look at their customers. Give a subscription based model and people will use and to a lesser extent abuse, that sub.

Aquaman reaches $940 million worldwide I'm happy about this, despite merely finding the movie to be okay. The stigma of lameness that has clung to the character thanks to SuperFriends and Robot Chicken have finally been replaced by something worthwhile. I'm sure it doesn't hurt that the foreign box office doesn't attach that stigma to the character for the most part. Aquaman is the king of all the oceans of Earth. You don't get to keep that job if you're a wimp. You certainly don't become a founding member of the Justice League.
