I'm due for a new phone, and due to COVID-19 the Verizon store may not be open/accessible for a while which is how i've always purchased.
Have any of you bought your phones through the manufacturer or from Best Buy before? If so, did you pay up front or finance? How did it work with setting it up with your carrier?

Always buy unlocked. I bought direct from Google but i also bought through other spots when I broke one or two. Just look for unlocked and compatible with your carrier.
Swap your sim card if it's the same size, if not order a proper size from Verizon and do it yourself.
Easy.

I bought my last one at Best Buy in store, which I don't think is really that different from buying at a carrier store in the grand scheme of things, they go through the same processes. I bought my last one outright but financed the one before. Both have their pros and cons and it probably largely depends on how long you plan to keep the phone and when you expect you'll upgrade again.
