It's been out of print for a while. I believe Studio Canal now has the rights which means the odds of getting a Criterion rerelease are slim.

That's too bad, I thought once Criterion had it in their collection it was there to stay.

Ran was my first Criterion movie that I picked up. I was always hoping for a blu-ray upgrade but the DVD is pretty solid.

Just the 4K transfer from Studio Canal other than the standard definition Criterion? I've been wanting to buy Ran for some time.

That's higher than 1080p. It's the future!

I just want the Criterion version though because it's so pretty.

I'm just happy to finally get a good transfer of Ran. So basically at this point no blu-ray from Criterion? Just the 4K transfer from Studio Canal other than the standard definition Criterion? I've been wanting to buy Ran for some time. Ignore Dracula and just get the damn 4K transfer. That's higher than 1080p. It's the future! Blu-Ray.com has spoken and they are underwhelmed by the transfer on the French region B blu-ray of the 4K transfer. Doesn't bode well for the eventual region A release. Oh, please god make StudioCanal see the light and start working with Criterion again. www.blu-ray.com/movies/Ran-Blu-ray/148663/#Review

They also had the DeNiro/Pacino/Mann/Nolan panel near where I work but I couldn't get tickets. That would have been great to go to and the panel would be worth the price of the double dip.

They should make the panel available online, for those that can't make it

Now that Night of the Living Dead has been released by Criterion, somebody needs to convince those fuckers who own the rights to Dawn of the Dead to license that out to them so we can have the classic duo in definitive editions.
I can live with the Shout discs of Day and Land.
