Why would anyone want to watch a Bad Boys movie in the middle of winter, it just doesn't compute. Everything about this movie is wrong-headed.

It still just astounds me how many people like/love Bad Boys II nowadays. I thought it was just commonly accepted that it's a terrible movie. Where did this groundswell come from?

It still just astounds me how many people like/love Bad Boys II nowadays. I thought it was just commonly accepted that it's a terrible movie. Where did this groundswell come from? We've tried to explain the spirit in which people "like" that movie a few times. It's not that we think it's quality cinema or that other movies should be that way, it's more that there's a certain grotesqueness to the movie's outlandish excursiveness that makes it fascinating to watch. It's not a million miles from the way you enjoy the baffling decisions in "so bad its good" kind of movies except Michael Bay knows that what he's making is insane and he's sort of reveling it, essentially trolling his critics with insanity like sex scenes between rats and corpses being launched out of trucks in car chases. |
