Incorrect. Most of the last hour of Justice League is quite good (bullshit use of the black costume aside). It's the first three hours I have a problem with. But if we're going to do this, let me take a deep breath and list all the craps that doesn't need to be in this movie off the top of my head: The scene with Iris West, poorly constructed and an awkward introduction to Barry. Chuck it. The intro at the prison was better, and the scene with Bruce is a better intro to his power set (Brunch line aside). The scene between Aquaman and Willem Dafoe, dreadfully scripted and adds nothing to the movie except setting up the Aquaman movie. The only reason it's here is because Snyder promised the fans it would be here. Waste of time. The song for Aquaman. Bullshit. Cut it and set it on fire. Martian Manhunter being in the movie at all. Henry Lennix is great casting, but he's only in the movie to be here. And his use in the scene between Lois and Martha objectively makes the scene worse. Get rid of him. Knightmare sequence. Even worse than the BVS one. No thank you. The shot where Wonder Woman is all "Get dressed" and Cyborg goes "I'm always dressed." What? Why the fuck...? Ugh. Cringier than anything Whedon added to the movie. This is off the top of my head. I could list more things that need to be excised from the movie, but that would require watching it again and I'm not going to. You can drop the slow motion from the Amazon fight for example and easily make it better. I could probably take or leave most of those scenes, but this is kind of my point, a lot of these scenes aren't a problem because of how long the movie is, they're just problems because they're (in you opinion) bad scenes and having bad scenes in a movie is bad. Like, that cyborg line is probably thirty seconds of screentime, which certainly isn't going make or break a film's pacing, but you think it's cringey so it takes off points (personally, I don't even remember it). Certain scenes being in a movie can make it objectively worse and drag down what is good within it. It's hard to appreciate something when it's constantly pummeling me with something that is rubbing me the wrong way. There are extended cuts that are more fun because they add to the movie, and others that just don't and add scenes that don't work back into the movie that feel like hurdles. The Snyder Cut feels like one of the latter to a movie that doesn't exist. Long movies aren't bad, that was never my point and pretending it is is a nonsense misread. That's entirely skimming what I'm saying and cherry picking to fit your own argument. The Snyder Cut is four hours long because it throws all this into it without thought or care creating a bloated and insufferable experience. It's problem isn't that it's four hours long, it's that it's four hours long and chooses to waste its time. My point isn't that more is worse, it's that more isn't always better.

So apparently, Avengers 2 is not that great. I think my prediction of Mad Max being THE summer movie will come through. I'm predicting that Mad Max will be pretty good, but that people would have built such high expectations for it (based on the fact that it's a director returning to a series he created in the 70s) that they will end up bitching about its every little imperfection and end up making it out like it's a terrible failure. ... in other words, I think it's the next Prometheus. Is this Dracula's equivalent of "Mark my words, Return of the King will never win Best Picture"?

I am so fucking sick of twitterheads thinking that no movie can have questionable content of any kind. They must declare that they dont like the movie for this moral reason and thus anyone who does like the movie is an awful person. Its really tiring.

I meant more within the story itself, not the people involved. Like the birth scene in House of Dragons. "I can't watch that! She had no choice over her own body! Don't they know about Roe?" Um, maybe that was the point?

I think those are the Cinemascore ratings. B is actually considered quite low on that scale.

Have you guys heard ao Scott is hanging up the movie reviews and going into books? Did you happen to catch his interview on the daily released today? I went into it not expecting to like what he had to say, and he does some borderline trolling in some parts (a certain Canadian 'film maker' gets referenced) of the interview but his reasoning for giving up movie reviews and his concern for movies stemmed from tentpole ip blockbusters dominating and the rise of streaming and the ease of the 'background noise' effect to a degree, it's too easy to just put on the office and please everyone than decide you wanna watch that foreign film and be borderline challenged by what you're seeing. Fans are the worst because they can't accept criticism from any side and we aren't putting out near as many nor celebrating the artistic endeavours that we receive in this medium. I had to kind of tige him begrudging credit by the end. Check it out - would be interested your opinions. Not exactly new points but cogently made somewhat. www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2023/03/23/podcasts/the-daily/ao-scott-film-critic-american-cinema-movies.amp.html

Iron Man got straight As? Color me surprised. I'm sure SnoBorderZero has opinions as well.
