I peered into the vastness and saw nothing. Felt nothing.

It's made me more curious to see it (Crawl), but keep in mind a lot of critics skipped seeing it and the audience rating numbers is also extremely low. Could definitely be one of those situations whereas 'those wanting to see it are bound to enjoy it'. If you're a fan of creature features, it will likely please.

Well...he's not wrong.
I watched Dark Waters and Richard Jewell in the last two weeks and thought to myself during each "I'd admire the acting so much more if I could actually see the actor's faces."

Maybe a week ago, someone asked me why actresses were hotter in “old movies” (by old they meant 80’s/90’s - PG Cooper and his Gen-Z) and I said, “cause they were lit properly.” #TeamDePalma

Lighting actors to enhance their looks isn't edgy enough. The Ad Astra post above reminds me that it's a perfect example of this problem. "See how innovative I am? I took one of the most popular leading men in Hollywood and made him look like crap in new and interesting ways in every scene he's in! I'm on the cutting edge of visual storytelling! Right?"

Well Roger Deakins had spoken about getting in "trouble" for not prettying up acting leads' faces, and instead electing to light for the scene, which is what he should do.
Gone are the days (thankfully) of old Hollywood bringing in large carbon arc lights to blow out/soften the features of women. Light for the mood, light for the scene. In some cases it DOES make the actors look better, since they're using less lighting and shaping faces with shadows, which is more appealing in my opinion than trying to extensively soften features anyways.

So you didn’t try to make Wesley Snipes look like the most beautiful lady in the room? Shame.

The erections were too embarrassing for them. “Cat-astrophic” - Hollywood Reporter “Cats is both a horror and an endurance test” - LA Times “a surrealistic nightmare that rivals Jodorowsky” - NY Times
