Who would have thought that movie would have changed Hollywood forever?

Who would have thought that movie's sequel would kill midnight premieres? Normally I'm not one to wince, but yikes.

Who would have thought that movie's sequel would kill midnight premieres? Normally I'm not one to wince, but yikes. In all seriousness... I do miss midnight premieres. 7pm premieres are VERY convenient, especially when you're a grown-up with a grown-up schedule, but it does bring out all the "normies." What made midnight premieres special were the fans. Only fans would be dedicated enough to watch a movie on what's essentially a Thursday night. Everyone in the room was enthusiastic to watch the movie. It's rare these days to have that experience. Theaters are spending millions of dollars to remodel and make moviegoing more upscale, but if the crowd is lame, it won't make a difference.

I understand that. I went to see Infinity War again at the dollar theater last night and...dollar theater crowds are the worst, that's all I'll say. That's probably because there are no ushers to tell you to STFU, just still-in-high-school kids with summer jobs who are doing everything they can to just keep the popcorn machine from breaking down.
Packed crowd of nerds, best way to see a movie. Nothing will ever replicate that first Infinity War experience. And it probably would have been even better at midnight.

I saw the last Harry Potter at a midnight showing and my god did those fucks make me pray for death. Every time they saw a character who they knew would die later in the story they'd loudly go "awwwwwww" and there was also wild cheers when Ron and Hermione kissed for the first time. I'm not usually one to cast stones at other nerds, but that whole night, all I could think was, "You guys are fucking losers".

I used to go to dollar theaters every once in a while but it just isn't worth it for that exact reason. The phrase I like to use is, you go to a $1 movie you get a $1 crowd. Go to a $15 movie you get a $15 crowd.

I'm kinda shocked you still have dollar theaters. Those shut down here, like, 12 years ago. Generally, dollar theaters were popular with families who wanted to watch movies as inexpensive as possible. So, in other words, yeah, the crowd experience is lazy parents and kids running around. Unless you go at night, which is teenagers looking for a dark and noisy place to have sex. Either way, if you want to immerse yourself in the movie, dollar theaters were definitely not the place to go. Nah, bro. 2002 Spider-Man is still the gold standard. I remember going to watch the first Avenger in 2012, which was only 10 years later, and although people were excited, you could tell everyone was spoiled. That childhood Christmas morning feeling we all had when Spider-Man came out, we're not gonna get back until Hollywood starts making good video game adaptations. lol.

I remember watching Fantastic Four at the midnight premiere and guys started whistling, you know that "she's sexy whistle", when Jessica Alba showed up. I just laughed. Another funny one was X-Men: The Last Stand. Some guy kept shouting, "I'm the juggernaut, bitch" whenever Juggernaut appeared on screen. Then Juggernaut actually says, "I'm the Juggernaut, bitch" towards the end of the movie and the whole theater started laughing. you go to a $1 movie you get a $1 crowd. Go to a $15 movie you get a $15 crowd. You get what you paid for.

My Potter screening, on the other hand, was like an endless screech of dozens of teenage girls as a calmly prayed for death.

endless screech of dozens of teenage girls Pirates of the Caribbean. Girls LOVED the original trilogy. I sat next to a girl who I'm 99.9% sure had an orgasm in the middle of the movie. I'm not joking.

My screening of the last Harry Potter movie was more like a rock concert. You couldn't hear the movie because there were so many cheers and the like. I don't think there were many cutesy, tween girl reactions, but I remember having to see it again so I could hear the dialogue. That was probably the most unleashed I had seen a movie theater. Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises were up there, and Infinity War was the only one that really came close. Maybe Avengers 4: The Quest for Peace will make it.

I remember that day, sitting down in the theatre, and patiently awaiting the film to start. And when Will Smith and Martin Lawrence popped all those KKK members, I knew we were in for an all-timer. (Seriously, Happy 15th BAD BOYS II!!!!!) But really, I remember waiting in line for an IMAX showing with Kitty (blast from the past y'all,) and after our showing had been delayed due to the print failure (for about two hours after the scheduled start time,) and by the time it was over, all we could talk about is how we had just witnessed something magical, and we went back two more times that weekend. Happy 10th to a film that never really went away. THE DARK KNIGHT, for better or worse, is a landmark whose presence is still being felt all over cinema.

I watched the movie in the midnight premiere, Saturday night, Sunday night and 4 years later at a triple feature. I’m not one to do repeat viewings at the theatre but that movie was an event.

I took my dad the second time and he's kind of hard of hearing but these punk teens were giggling their tits off early on so I got up and asked them if it was their first movie and they got all shy and shut up.
My dad still loves telling that story.
Only comic book movie I own.
Tis still a stunning flick in it's own right.

First time watching this in years tonight. I have to say, while still a good movie, it sort of suffers from the same issue the '89 BATMAN does - the first hour or so is near perfection, and then the movie unravels. For THE DARK KNIGHT, it starts to come apart when The Joker invades Wayne's fundraiser. Plot threads start to make little to no sense, and characters decision begin to become questionable.
It's still a solid movie, but it's definitely not the end-all, be-all it was when it was originally released.

I mean, Wiseau is better than Greg Sestero.

But Sestero has a grand, multihundred dollar franchise like Puppet Master under his belt. Wiseau has yet to achieve that level, hence all the Joker videos.

Tommy's Joker is good fun. I hate Greg's Batman, though.
