Wolverine has officially begun filming and will be rated R. When asked about the possibility of the R-Rating and maybe Patrick Stewart's return, producer Simon Kinberg said:

It’s a very radical, bold, different Wolverine than you’ve ever seen in any of these movies. I’m not sure what I’m allowed to say about that. I will agree with you that Patrick Stewart was rumored to be a part of that film. It takes place in the future, and as you and others have reported, it is an R-rated movie. The opening credits of X-Men Origins: Wolverine are still in continuity. And although The Wolverine did follow the first three X-Men movies, that has now been erased. So this movie is essentially a sequel to X-Men: Apocalypse.
